Man fatally shot by police on Saskatchewan reserve

A 21-year-old member of the White Bear First Nation of Saskatchewan was fatally shot by Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers on Saturday morning.

The Canadian Press identified the man as Chase McKay Standingready. It is not clear if he is related to Chief Brian Standingready, who addressed the media about the incident and said the community was mourning the loss of "a young and vibrant member."

The RCMP has not released details of the incident, which occurred early Saturday morning.

The White Bear First Nation consists of four bands: Saulteaux, Cree, Nakota and Dakota.
