First Nation in Manitoba loses water service
Wednesday, June 18, 2008

Correction: The Roseau River First Nation is based in Manitoba, not Saskatchewan as incorrectly reported in the first version of this post. Indianz.Com apologizes for forcing the band to move during the water crisis.

The Roseau River First Nation of Manitoba has lost its water service, reportedly over unpaid bills.

Service was turned off on Tuesday. Most homes and businesses on the reserve are affected.

The Pembina Valley Water Co-operative said the band hasn't paid its bill in four months. "We had no other option," co-op CEO Sam Schellenberg told CBC News.

Roseau River is an Ojibwe band.
