Seminole Tribe partners with New York Yankees
Thursday, June 19, 2008

The Seminole Tribe of Florida and the New York Yankees have teamed up to open a chain of steak restaurants, with the first to be located at the team's new stadium in New York City.

NYY Steak will be modeled after the tribe's Council Oak Steak & Seafood Restaurants. The council oak is a sacred tree on the Hollywood Reservation.

The tribe and the Yankees plan to open at least 25 more NYY Steaks at Hard Rock locations around the world. The tribe bought the Hard Rock franchise in 2006 for $1 billion.

The tribe also will build a Hard Rock Restaurant in the new Yankees stadium, which is located in the Bronx borough.

Joba Chamberlain, a member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, plays for the Yankees.
