Judge cuts sentence in half for Abramoff partner
Thursday, June 26, 2008

A federal judge reduced the sentence of a man who pleaded guilty for his role in the Jack Abramoff scandal.

Adam Kidan, 43, was originally sentenced to 70 months for bank fraud. He admitted that he helped Abramoff falsify documents in a deal to purchase a fleet of casino boats in Florida.

The judge cut the sentence to 35 months because federal prosecutors said he cooperated with the investigation and helped bring Abramoff down. Abramoff eventually pleaded guilty to bank fraud.

Abramoff is serving time for bank fraud and has not been sentenced for defrauding his tribal clients. He is seeking a reduction in punishment for his ongoing cooperation.
