Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock spent
"30 Days" on the
Navajo Nation without running water and electricity for his FX Network television show.
Spurlock described the reservation as "America's dirty little secret." "There's a lot of things people don't know about, and the reservation is like a Third World country," he told The Farmington Daily Times.
Spurlock lived in a hogan on the ranch of Deborah and Karl Dennison in Tohatchi, New Mexico. He learned a bit of the Navajo language, helped butcher a sheep, got a job for $25 a day and participated in a sweat lodge.
"It was one of those thing that I'm glad I did it by myself. Things happened to me that I cannot explain," he said.
The episode airs Tuesday night.
