A bill to settle the water rights of the
Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians of California was signed into law on Thursday.
H.R.4841,
the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians Settlement Act of 2007, provides $29 million
and up to 2 billion gallons of water a year for the tribe. It resolves a
75-year-old dispute over water that was being taken from the reservation.
The bill passed the House in May and the Senate in late July.
