Arrests for 2001 murders of Turtle Mountain men
Tuesday, August 26, 2008

Two men have been charged in connection with the seven-year-old murders of two members of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians of North Dakota.

Robert Belgarde, 40, and his 19-year-old son, Damien, were killed in Grand Forks on September 7, 2001. They were shot execution style, authorities said.

The case remained unsolved for several years until the arrests of Joseph Moncada, 26, and Billy Jo Aguero, 30. Both are charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Authorities aren't saying what motivated the murders thought it could be related to drugs, The Grand Forks Herald reported.
