Sisseton-Wahpeton boxer training for debut

Wahacanka Wa'Ste Wilch, a member of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate of South Dakota, is training for his professional debut as a boxer.

Wilch, 20, planned to compete in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing but suffered an injury in a fight last year. The break made him decide to enter the professional ring.

Wilch is training with the with the War Party Boxing Club in Nevada. He is scheduled for his first fight in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho on October 30.

"Ever since I was a kid, my idols were in boxing," Wilch told the Reno Gazette-Journal.
