BIA school breaks ground on $10M expansion

The
Bureau of Indian Affairs broke ground on a $10 million expansion of the
St. Stephen's Indian School in Wyoming.
The new building will house grades 9-12 at the 124-year-old school on the Wind River Reservation. It is being built to Leadership in Energy Efficient Design (
LEED) standards.
St. Stephen's is the oldest continually operated school in Wyoming and is the only BIA school in the state. The BIA is fully funding the project.
The reservation is home to the
Eastern Shoshone Tribe
and the
Northern Arapaho
Tribe.
