Pechanga Band puts culture into new golf course

The
Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians of California is emphasizing tribal culture at its new golf course.
The
Journey at Pechanga celebrated its grand opening last week. The facility features an 18-hole course, a 62,000 square-foot clubhouse, a 2,800 square-foot pro shop and a restaurant.
The tribe says the course has been "10,000 years in the making." It's built in an area filled with oak trees, an important tribal symbol, and among archaeological sites.
"Everything we did was dictated by the culture of the tribe. It was important to respect that," primary architect Steve Forrest told The San Diego Union-Tribune.
