Obama settling on choice for Attorney General
Wednesday, November 19, 2008

President-elect Barack Obama has offered the job of U.S. Attorney General to Eric H. Holder Jr., a former Clinton administration official, according to news reports.

If nominated and confirmed, Holder would be the first African-American to hold the post. A former federal prosecutor, he was previously second-in-command at the Department of Justice.

Obama plans to announce his pick after consulting Republicans and after Holder completes the vetting process, according to news reports. A potential issue is Holders involvement in the pardons issued by former president Bill Clinton in his final days in office.
