Tom Daschle tapped for Health and Human Services

Former Senate majority leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota has been tapped as Secretary of Health and Human Services for president-elect Barack Obama.

Daschle is known as an advocate for Indian issues. He would oversee the Indian Health Service in his new role.

Daschle lost to Sen. John Thune (R-South Dakota) in 2004.
