Conjoined Cheyenne River Sioux twins doing well
Wednesday, November 26, 2008

Doctors in Oklahoma plan to separate a set of 1-month-old girls who are believed to be the first American Indian conjoined twins.

Preslee Faith and Kylee Hope Wells were born October 25 in Oklahoma City. Their mother, Stevie Stewart, is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe of South Dakota. The grandmother is Marla Longbrake.

Doctors say the twins are doing well. They are joined at the liver so the separation is believed to be fairly straightforward.

Stewart and the girls' father, Kyle Wells, have a history of twins in their families.
