Blackfeet Nation seeks ouster of county attorney
Friday, December 5, 2008

The Blackfeet Nation of Montana says a county attorney should resign for failing to secure hate crime charges in an attack on a tribal member.

Glacier County Attorney Larry Epstein charged three white males with misdemeanors for beating up Ron Rides at the Door, a county commissioner. He said there was no evidence the crime was motivated by hate even though the men directed racial comments at Rides at the Door and his wife.

The Montana Department of Justice backed Epstein but said it would try to determine whether to bring stronger charges against Todd, Brian and Aaron Molenda. Nothing has happened in the case then.
