Coeur d'Alene Tribe reaches deal over use of lands

The Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho reached a deal with a utility company for use of its lands in Lake Coeur d'Alene.

The tribe will be receive as much as $168 from Avista Corp. The amount will compensate the tribe for past and future use of its submerged lands.

In exchange, the tribe will support relicensing of Avista's six Spokane River dams. The two will cooperate on projects to protect the lake.

The tribe owns the southern third of Lake Coeur d'Alene.
