Sen. Barrasso to serve as Indian Affairs vice chair

Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming), a first-term senator, is being sworn in as vice chairman of the
Senate Indian Affairs
Committee today.
Since joining the Senate in June 2007, Barrasso has been an advocate for Indian health care and law enforcement. He has supported the two tribes in his state.
Barrasso replaces
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), who stepped down from the post to serve in other leadership positions during the 111th Congress.
He will take the gavel during an organizational meeting, to be followed by a hearing on health care, at 11am.
