A jury is deliberating the wrongful termination lawsuit that
Ward Churchill filed against the
University of Colorado.
Churchill claims he was fired for writing a controversial essay about the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The school says he committed research misconduct and plagiarism in other works.
The trial lasted four weeks. Jurors heard from 45 witnesses, including Churchill and top CU officials.
Churchill has claimed Cherokee and Creek heritage but is not enrolled in a federally recognized tribe.
