Native leader seeks apology over candidate's ad

A Native leader in British Columbia says a candidate for legislative assembly should apologize for a "racist" ad.
Grand Chief Stewart Phillip of the
Union of B.C. Indian Chiefs says Bill Bennett insulted Native people and a Native candidate. The ad describes Bennett as "one of us" and as "someone who pays taxes."
"There is no question in my mind, and in the mind of many native people I have spoken to, that this is a backhanded slap against First Nations people," Phillip told CBC News.
Bennett's opponent in the race is Troy Sebastian, a member of the Ktunaxa First Nation. Sebastian said the ad shows how Bennett and his party are out of touch with the community.
