A politician in Saskatchewan has removed photos of Native leaders from his
Facebook profile after a First Nations chief complained.
Saskatchewan NDP leadership candidate
Dwain Lingenfelter asked to take pictures with Native leaders at a recent meeting of the
Prince Albert Grand Council. Wally Burns, chief of the
James Smith Cree Nation, became upset when he found out the photos were used to promote the politician's campaign.
"I want my pictures taken off of that Facebook because he had no consent, my consent, to do that," Burns told CBC News.
Lingenfelter has since removed the photo of Burns and of other Native leaders. Burns said he supports the rival
Saskatchewan Party.
