Update: 3:30pm - The House passed the Lumbee bill by a vote of 240 to 179.

The House today is scheduled to consider two federal recognition bills.
H.R.31
extends recognition to the
Lumbee Tribe of North
Carolina. The bill was amended by the
House Natural Resources Committee to ensure the tribe can follow the land-into-trust process.
H.R.1385
extends recognition to the
Chickahominy Tribe, the
Chickahominy Tribe-Eastern
Division, the
Upper
Mattaponi Tribe, the
Rappahannock Tribe, the
Monacan Nation, and the
Nansemond Tribe. An amendment also addressed the land-into-trust issue.
Both bills are subject to a rule, according to the
House Majority Leader schedule.
