Hoh Tribe hoping for quick action on land bill
Monday, June 15, 2009

The Hoh Tribe of Washington is hoping for speedy approval of a bill that would expand the reservation.

The tribe wants to add 462 acres to the reservation. The tribe needs the land in order to escape constant flooding.

The Senate Indian Affairs Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee held hearings on the bill earlier this year. Both are expected to vote on the bill in the coming months..

"We're not just sure as to when," Alexis Barry, the tribe's executive director, told The Peninsula Daily News. "We have a commitment from the Senate and House to get it to the floor as soon as possible."
