HHS Secretary promises Indian health focus

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is vowing to improve health care for American Indians and Alaska Natives.
Sebelius told the Associated Press that she will develop a multi-year strategy to hire more doctors, nurses and staff and to focus on preventive care. She also plans to press Congress to improve the
Indian Health Service.
"The most severe disparity between quality care and what goes on with health outcomes is in the Native American population," Sebelius told the AP.
The comments came after the AP ran a lengthy story about failures in the IHS system.
