Obama won't release White House visitor logs
Wednesday, June 17, 2009

President Barack Obama is taking the same position as the Bush administration on the release of White House visitor logs.

Obama says he is reviewing his policy on visitor logs. But for now, the Secret Service is rejecting requests for the information.

"The Obama administration has now taken exactly the same position as the Bush administration," Anne Weismann, the chief counsel for Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, told The Washington Post. "I don't see how you can keep people from knowing who visits the White House and adhere to a policy of openness and transparency."

CREW filed a lawsuit in hopes of getting the information. During the Bush administration, the group sought similar records related to Jack Abramoff.
