Muscogee Nation paramedic scuffle goes national
Wednesday, June 17, 2009

After making the rounds in Oklahoma for the past few weeks, a scuffle between an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and Muscogee (Creek) Nation paramedics is landing in the national news.

Maurice White Jr., a tribal paramedic who was involved in the May 24 incident, appeared on CBS's "The Early Show" yesterday. He said trooper Daniel Martin should be fired from his job.

But Martin's lawyer, Gary James, who held a press conference on Monday, blamed everything on White. James urged the media to check up on White's history but The Tulsa World found nothing of note after speaking to law enforcement in northeastern Oklahoma.

James also threatened to get White in trouble for allegedly leaving a patient alone in an ambulance. White and another tribal paramedic were taking a woman to a hospital when they were pulled over by trooper Martin.
