Muscogee chief files lawsuit to force election

Nation Chief A.D. Ellis has filed a lawsuit in hopes of forcing the tribe to hold a special election.
Ellis said tribal members should vote on 14 amendments to the constitution. An election was to be held May 2 but the Creek National Council refused to fund it.
One of the amendments is being disputed because it would reduce the size of the National Council. The amendment would cut the number of council seats from 26 to 16.
Ellis said the special election should be held before the tribe's general election in September.
