Ojibwe woman found guilty of music sharing

Jammie Thomas-Rasset, a member of the
Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe of Minnesota, was ordered to pay $1.9 million for illegally sharing music on the Internet.
Thomas-Rasset, a mother of two who works for her tribe, was found guilty of sharing copyrighted works. She was ordered to pay $80,000 each for the 24 songs she downloaded and kept on her computer.
"The only thing I can say is, 'Good luck getting it from me,'" Thomas-Rasset said after the verdict, The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
Thomas-Rasset was found guilty after a trial in 2007 but a judge granted a new one due to errors made in jury instructions. She had been ordered to pay $222,000 to record labels at that time.
