First Nations declare emergency over swine flu

The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs declared an emergency over H1N1 virus, commonly known as swine flu.

First Nations in the province have been hit hard by the flu. Dozens of residents on reserves have been hospitalized and at least two have died since the outbreak.

"No one is taking responsibility," said Garden Hill First Nation Chief David Harper, The Winnipeg Sun reported. "We've crossed the line. We've had enough."

Government officials said they are already treating the flu as a high priority.
