DOI to host swearing-in ceremony for EchoHawk

Larry EchoHawk will be sworn in as the 11th assistant secretary for Indian affairs at the Interior Department on Friday.

EchoHawk, a member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma, will be sworn in by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar. The ceremony takes place at 10am in department's Sidney R. Yates Auditorium.

Leaders from the Pawnee Nation will take part in the swearing-in. A Pawnee elder will give the blessing, the Bureau of Indian Affairs said in a press release.

EchoHawk was confirmed by the Senate on May 19.
