The
Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian
Community of Arizona hopes a new baseball complex will draw more fans and customers to its reservation.
The tribe won a bid to build a stadium for the
Arizona Diamondbacks and the
Colorado Rockies. Construction on the 140-acre complex is set to begin in November.
"We want the fans to come out here to Indian country to enjoy baseball," vice president Martin Harvier said at a press conference, The Arizona Republic reported. Visitors can stay at the tribe's hotel or play at the tribe's golf course.
