Remote tribe in Peru sees cases of swine flu
Thursday, August 13, 2009

Eight members of a remote tribe in Peru tested positive for the H1N1 virus, commonly known as swine flu.

Health officials said the Machiguenga patients were recovering from the virus. They don't believe it will spread to other tribes in the Amazon jungle.

Tribes in the U.S. have reported only a handful of swine flu cases since the outbreak in late April. But in Canada, Native people in Manitoba have been hit hard by the virus.
