Storage facility opens on Gila River Reservation

A new storage facility on the
Gila River Indian Community in Arizona was the result of five years of negotiations with individual Indian landowners, tribal government and local government.
Rande Leonard opened
Pecos Storage earlier this month. The facility spans 28 acres and includes plenty of room for RVs, boats, trucks and large vehicles.
"We've had a great response," Leonard told The Arizona Republic of his first week of business. "There was a convoy of cars lined up to get in here."
With the help of the tribe, Leonard negotiated 60-year leases with individual Indian landowners. “Gov. William Rhodes has been particularly helpful getting everyone rowing together,” Leonard said of the tribe's leader, The Ahwatukee News reported.
Leonard even worked with the city of Phoenix to get the project off the ground. He paid for additional traffic signals at the intersection where the facility is located.
