Port Gamble police incident under review
Thursday, October 8, 2009

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office are investigating an incident in which three non-Indian men say they were detained by officers from the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe.

Adam Boling claims tribal officers pointed guns at his 2-year-old son and his hunting party. He says they were held for "easily two hours."

"I kept telling them they had no right to do this, but they kept going," Boling told The Peninsula Daily News.

County deputies went to the scene to assist but the incident was already over by the time they arrived, the sheriff said. The incident apparently occurred on private, off-reservation property.
