Charges considered against Port Gamble officers

Two natural resource officers from the
Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe of Washington could face charges for allegedly detaining three non-Indian men off the reservation.
The
Washington Department of Fish and
Wildlife and the
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation into the October 3 incident. They said the officers lacked authority to detain non-members off the reservation.
The tribe is also looking into the incident and is due to issue a report as soon as next week. A spokesperson said the officers were acting within the tribe's "usual and accustomed hunting grounds."
Adam Boling, one of the hunters involved, claims tribal officers pointed guns at his 2-year-old son and two other adult men.
