Lower Brule Sioux Tribe gets $940K Shakopee grant

The
Lower Brule Sioux Tribe of South Dakota has received $940,000 grant from the
Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community of Minnesota.
The majority of the grant, $790,000, will fund a new convenience store on the Lower Brule Sioux Reservation. The 5,667 square-foot center will include a gas station.
Another $100,000 will be used for
Lakota Foods, the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe's popcorn, buffalo and food production company. The money will be used for marketing and advertising.
The remainder of the grant, $50,000, will help the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe acquire a new ambulance.
The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community is known as the most generous in Indian Country.
