The
Interior Department, the
Bureau of Indian Affairs, the
Department of Defense and the
Air Force are being asked to submit "any and/or all" information about the
Oneida Nation land-into-trust application.
The BIA has recommended the acquisition of around 10,000 acres for the tribe. No final decision has been made but Madison County filed a lawsuit to stop the potential transfer. The lawsuit also questions the transfer of surplus Air Force land to the tribe.
Additionally, Madison County filed a
Freedom of Information Act request in February. The county attorney says he hasn't received any information from the federal agencies.
