Coquille Tribe settles dispute over municipal services

The
Coquille Tribe and the city of
North Bend, Oregon, settled a dispute over municipal services.
The tribe agreed to pay the city $275,000 for police, fire and sewer services that were provided last year. The tribe agreed to pay $362,500 for services this year and agreed to a 5.25 percent increase for each subsequent year.
The city will continue to provide services for 10 years. The tribe will no longer be required to collect the city's hotel room tax and could impose its own.
"We're pleased to have come to an agreement that restores the government-to-government relationship between the tribe and the city of North Bend," Chairman Ed Metcalf said in a statement, KEZI-TV reported.
