A reporter from The Petoskey News-Review was excluded from an election board meeting of the
Little Traverse Bay Bands of
Odawa Indians of Michigan.
The tribe allows the paper to cover council meetings after a dispute arose last year involving Chairman Ken Harrington. But the tribal attorney said the election board meetings are not open to non-members.
The election board met on Tuesday to review recall petitions against Harrington and vice chairman Dexter McNamara. The board approved the petitions and is set to schedule a recall election within 90 days.
