Tribal role in Calif. recall election speculated

California Democrats are "quietly" betting that tribes will back Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante's bid in the state's upcoming recall election, The Washington Post reports.
Bustamante has enjoyed great tribal support, taking in more than $1.5 million in
direct donations from gaming tribes, The Los Angeles Times reports.
In announcing his entrance in the recall Wednesday, he would not say how much
he expects tribes to contribute.
A spokesperson for the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians says the tribe will indeed contribute.
Running against actor Arnold Schwarzenegger will take a lot of cash, Bustamante and observers say.
