NCAI holding 60th annual convention in Albuquerque

The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) is holding its 60th annual convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico, next week.
Trust reform, the Native vote and tribal sovereignty are high on the agenda for
NCAI, the oldest and largest inter-tribal organization in the country.
Lawmakers, federal officials and Democratic presidential candidates are scheduled to speak to tribal leaders.
Attendees will also get updates on cases in the federal courts, the Bureau of Indian Affairs reorganization, sacred sites, education and other issues.
NCAI President Tex Hall, elected in 2001, is running for re-election. Ernie Stensgar, chairman of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho, is also seeking the post.
