Lieberman running radio ads targeting Navajos
Friday, January 23, 2004

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Lieberman, the senator from Connecticut, is reaching out to Navajo voters through radio ads.

One ad is spoken in Navajo by Jack Jackson Sr., who recently retired from the state Senate. His son, Jack Jackson Jr., introduced Lieberman at the recent annual convention of the National Congress of American Indians, where Lieberman gave a taped address.

Lieberman and rival Rep. Dennis Kuchinich (D-Ohio) have visited the Navajo Nation. Kucinich spoke at an environmental rally and won the endorsement of an influential Navajo grassroots group. Lieberman spoke to the Navajo Nation council.
