Sandia Pueblo land settlement signed into law

With President Bush's signature, the decades-old dispute over 10,000 acres of land in New Mexico was settled on Thursday.

The omnibus appropriations act ended Sandia Pueblo's claim to the land in the Sandia Mountains. Title will remain with the federal government but the tribe will have criminal and civil jurisdiction and retain hunting and other rights.
