Alaska state judge upholds tribal court order

A superior court judge in Alaska rejected the state's attempt to overturn a tribal court order.
The judge said Alaska's tribe's have a right to self-governance, including authority over tribal members. He refused to reverse an order that banished a man from the Alutiiq village of Perryville.
The Perryville court banished John Tague, saying he is a threat to the community.
But Gov. Frank Murkowski (R) and his administration said that state courts should not be required to abide by tribal orders.
